A Far Cry

Sorry it's taken so long to update, but going off to college and completing your first semester doesn't always leave so much free time to wander about the internet for fresh blood. However, today I've stumbled upon a GREAT ensemble, along the lines of Alarm Will Sound -- young people in a "band" that performs classical music. Their name is "A Far Cry", a far cry from what, I'm not quite sure of, since their music-making is exquisite, and their YouTube catalogue and upcoming concerts show that they are quite quickly making the rounds of the standard string orchestra repertory. Their playing is lively and reflects the excitement I often talk about when I discuss the energy that comes from younger players although the core of 16 musicians that comprise the ensemble are all professional. They're also conductorless to add to the excitement!

My one bone to pick: they could use another bassist, but that's just my opinion.

I'd love to see them live soon.

Check out their Introduction & Allegro (Elgar's). Seriously big sound for a tiny group!

See? That wasn't so hard, was it?
