Christening the New Ship

Ho ho ho, new blog here for all the kiddies who want to read my ramblings.  And so we begin!

Item of note: the International Music Score Library Project (ISMLP for short) is back online!  Apparently it's been up since the end of June, but I only just found out a day or two ago.  An abundance of sheet music and scores is once again available, however they are abiding by the copyright laws meaning that if it ain't in the public domain in your vicinity, you can't get to it - a fact I learned when I tried to open some Gershwin scores.  I now have a copy of a score of the Elgar Serenade for Strings, though, which is much nicer when I print it doubled-sided at home than when I fork over 15 to 30 dollars for a score that isn't always printed that neatly (I'm looking at you Kalmus).

I was going to post videos of this great high school orchestra from Indiana playing the finale to Tchaikovsky's fifth symphony, but I just found this:

It's pretty damn wonderful.

Hahahaha. You should find a way to get paid for this. Like high school music talent scout or something.
